Monster Hunter Statues to Feature at Fukuoka Outlet Mall

The Mitsui Outlet Park Fukuoka Marinoa will install life-size statues of creatures from the Monster Hunter video game franchise. The display will feature the Fire Wyvern Rathalos and the Leviathan Lagiacrus, two iconic monsters from the Capcom series.

April 2025

The outlet mall, located near Meinohama Station in Fukuoka City, is scheduled to open the exhibit this coming April. While the specific dimensions of the statues have not been finalized due to size variances within the game’s mechanics, officials state the figures will be life-size representations of the creatures.

Installation Features

The mall plans to incorporate technical effects to enhance the display. According to project details, the installation will utilize lighting, sound, and mist to simulate combat scenarios between the two monsters. This design draws inspiration from the “turf war” mechanics introduced in the Monster Hunter: World game, where rival monsters compete for territory.

Current Status

The exhibit is currently in development ahead of the spring launch. Visitors are advised to plan travel arrangements to the Fukuoka City location in advance of the opening date.

Why it matters: Large-scale promotional installations in public spaces represent a growing trend in Japanese retail, where malls integrate gaming culture to increase foot traffic and consumer engagement. This strategy demonstrates how entertainment brands and commercial centers collaborate to create destination-based shopping experiences.
