Hitesh Oberoi is ending a tenure spanning nearly three decades at Info Edge, the parent company of the job portal Naukri. The company announced that Oberoi will step down as managing director and CEO at the close of business on December 2, 2026. Founder and vice chairman Sanjeev Bikhchandani will assume the roles of executive vice chairman, managing director, and group CEO effective December 3, 2026.
Leadership Transition
Oberoi’s departure concludes 27 years of full-time executive service at the firm. According to the company, Oberoi intends to dedicate his time to philanthropy, entrepreneurship, education, and institution building, alongside family commitments. He will maintain a connection to the organization by serving as a non-executive, non-independent director starting December 3.
Financial Performance
The leadership change was disclosed alongside the company’s financial results for the second quarter of the 2027 fiscal year. Info Edge reported a consolidated net profit of ₹649.8 crore for the September quarter, an 87% increase from the ₹347.5 crore recorded during the same period last year. On a quarter-over-quarter basis, profits rose by 32.6% from ₹490.1 crore.
Revenue from operations grew to ₹903.9 crore, marking a 12.2% increase year-over-year and a 2.6% rise from the previous quarter. The company also noted that other income climbed 164.8% year-over-year to reach ₹428.4 crore, which contributed to the overall profit growth.
Why it matters: This transition marks a significant shift for one of India’s major internet companies, moving from a long-serving executive leader back to its founder. Stability in leadership is often a key indicator for investors, particularly as the company demonstrates strong double-digit growth in both revenue and profit.
