Jazz Campus Orchestra Performs for President Mattarella at Castelporziano Closing Event

President Sergio Mattarella watched as the Jazz Campus Orchestra of the Fondazione Musica per Roma took the stage on the green lawns of Castelporziano on Saturday.

The concert marked the finale of a series of cultural initiatives aimed at supporting Italy’s most vulnerable populations. Organized by the foundation, the program combined live music with free workshops and health services offered throughout the week.

Members of the orchestra, many of whom are young musicians from disadvantaged backgrounds, performed a repertoire of classic and contemporary jazz pieces. Audience members included local residents, social workers, and representatives of charities that participated in the outreach.

In a brief statement, Mattarella thanked the foundation for its commitment to social inclusion through the arts. “Music can bridge gaps and bring hope to those who need it most,” he said.

Organizers said the event attracted over 1,000 attendees and highlighted the role of cultural projects in fostering community resilience. They plan to expand the program to additional sites next year, targeting more regions with high poverty rates.

The closing ceremony underscored a broader governmental push to integrate cultural activities into social welfare strategies, signaling continued investment in arts-driven support for fragile groups.
