Yamaha Motor announced the launch of three new motorcycles at the EICMA exhibition in Milan, unveiling the RW700, RW700 Explore and RW350 models equipped with the brand’s Y‑AMT automated transmission.
Key features of the new RW models
The RW700 and its Explore variant are positioned as dual‑purpose machines, combining on‑road comfort with off‑road capability. Both share a 689 cc parallel‑twin engine and feature the Y‑AMT system, which provides automatic clutch operation and gear shifts without a manual lever. The RW350 targets city riders seeking a lighter, more agile option; it uses a 349 cc single‑cylinder engine and also incorporates the Y‑AMT gearbox.
Design and market focus
Yamaha described the RW series as a bridge between traditional adventure bikes and urban scooters. The Explore version adds larger fuel capacity, higher ground clearance and reinforced suspension for longer trips on unpaved roads. All three models are intended to appeal to riders in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa who require versatile transportation for both daily commuting and weekend excursions.
The company highlighted that the Y‑AMT transmission reduces rider fatigue in stop‑and‑go traffic while retaining the performance characteristics of a manual gearbox. Yamaha plans to begin deliveries of the new models later this year, with pricing to be announced at regional dealer events.
What’s next for Yamaha
Yamaha will showcase the RW lineup at upcoming motor shows across the region and will open test‑ride sessions at selected dealerships. The brand indicated that further variants could be added to the range depending on market response.
Why it matters: The introduction of automated‑shift adventure motorcycles offers Middle Eastern and Egyptian riders a new option that blends off‑road capability with ease of use in congested urban environments, potentially expanding the market for versatile two‑wheel transport.
