Strategic Alliance Formed in Cairo
Adeer International, the global investment arm of Saudi Arabia’s Sumou Holding Group, announced plans to invest approximately $2 billion in the Egyptian hospitality sector. The company disclosed the initiative during a recent media briefing in Cairo, outlining a strategic alliance with local partners including Hassan Allam, MIDAR for Investment and Urban Development, and Sumou Investment.
Bassel El-Serafy, founder and CEO of Adeer International, stated the company entered the Egyptian market following an assessment of the country’s growth prospects and real estate development trends. The firm characterizes itself as a strategic investment partner rather than a developer, focusing on aggregating capital and expertise to execute projects through tailored investment models.
Expanding Footprint in Egypt
Adeer International began its Egyptian operations with the opening of Adeer Plaza in Sheikh Zayed City in 2024. The firm has since pursued further expansion, including a collaboration with Paragon Developments and MIDAR on Sumou Boulevard in Mostakbal City, a mixed-use project with estimated investments of EGP 70 billion. Ahmed Helmy, Chief Investment Officer, noted the company signed additional agreements in 2024, including a partnership with Melee Developments to expand activities in both Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
The organization aims to extend its global presence to 35 countries by 2035. It currently operates in markets including the UK, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkey, and Switzerland. According to Helmy, the firm manages SAR 55 billion across 15 real estate funds and views Egypt as a market with significant long-term growth potential.
Why it matters: This investment signals continued interest from Gulf-based entities in Egypt’s real estate and tourism sectors. By facilitating international capital flows and partnering with established local developers, Adeer International aims to support domestic economic growth while positioning Egyptian real estate assets for foreign investors.
