Acciona Seeks Premium Valuation for Renewable Energy Subsidiary Sale

Acciona is demanding a significant premium from potential buyers for a controlling stake in its renewable energy subsidiary. The Spanish infrastructure group has narrowed its focus to offers that grant full control of Acciona Energía, moving away from previous interest in partial sales. French investment firm Ardian and a consortium led by Sweden’s EQT, including Norway’s Norges Bank, remain the primary candidates meeting these acquisition criteria.

Financial sources indicate that Acciona is seeking a valuation between 9 billion and 10 billion euros to approve a deal. This figure represents a substantial increase over the company’s current market capitalization of approximately 6.9 billion euros, or 21.3 euros per share. Acciona Energía debuted on the stock market in July 2021 at 26.7 euros per share. Representatives for Acciona, EQT, Norges Bank, and Ardian declined to comment on the ongoing negotiations.
