Egypt’s foreign minister Badr Abdelatty urged the region to step up diplomatic pressure on the Iran‑related tensions, warning that the crisis must not spill over. In separate calls with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and a senior U.S. adviser, he pressed for stronger political channels and a united stance against using the Red Sea and Bab Al‑Mandab as bargaining chips.
Abdelatty stressed that navigation through these vital waterways must stay safe and unrestricted, echoing Saudi concerns and backing Riyadh’s security moves. He also reiterated Egypt’s support for Sudan’s unity and its coordination with Washington on broader regional stability.
